I know this website hasn’t been updated for a while, this is not due to inactivity it’s just that I’ve been completely focused on recording and publishing YouTube videos daily so I’ve had little time to update this website also.
If you want to catch up on the latest news, game playthroughs and the like then be sure to check out my channel and sign up
I’m currently doing Let’s Plays of XCom: UFO Defense, Dungeons Of Dredmor, Ichi and I’ll be starting up a Neverwinter Nights 1 Let’s Play soon. Reviews of Indie bundles are recorded as and when I have time and they’re released. In the future I’ll be doing Let’s Plays of XCom 2012 (Fraxis), Neverwinter MMO, Planetside 2, maybe League of Legends and also showing you my own game development.
During the server migration over to Linux something went wrong with the website, nothing major, just a tiny bump in the road. It seems that the change over broke something with the games tab of the website and I’m now unable to publish new games using MyArcadePlugin Lite. I’m not entirely sure what’s wrong with it and this is the reason why I’m glad I had that on it’s own seperate database because I’m probably just going to delete the whole database and try again. All I’ll have to do is reinstall a theme, fix it up and then relink one or two review posts and then it’s sorted. In the meantime enjoy the minecraft catch-up videos!
The server has now finally been migrated to Linux server and overall everything seems to have gone smoothly except for some reason I can no longer publish flash games in the games section of this website. Hopefully I’ll have that resolved at some point soon though in the meantime I have started to begin video reviews of Flash games now so they should come around a lot more often. And in keeping with the new Zombie the for this month the first game is ‘Zombie Taxi 2′, the video has been edited now and should be up in the next day or so. In the mean time console yourself with the latest in the XCom Let’s Play series below.
In a few hours time I will begin the process of migrating the hosting plan over to a Linux based solution rather than a windows based solution which should hopefully see the website response improve as well as allow better functionality amongst a whole host of other little bits and pieces. I’m hoping that it won’t take long but it could mean that the website is down for a day or two whilst this process is carried out.
Incidentally I managed to find out how to record Flash games using Fraps. Apparently if I have an Aero theme on my computer Fraps is able to record the desktop and then with editing software I can extract only the area of the screen that I want. This mean it’ll now be possible for me to record Flash games and do video reviews of these. This will mean there will be less written reviews but more reviews in general.
Finally, with the new month a new theme has to be chosen so for this month we’ll be focusing on one of my favourite subjects. Zombies. Yes, Nerd Of Gamers will be focusing on, but not exclusively creating content for, the genre of zombies. As part of this theme I’ll be examing how to change the WordPress theme to a more ghastly appearance.
After much messing around with the configuration of WordPress I’ve finally come to the conculsion that the Windows serving solution is a pile of **** and in response I’ll be migrating over to a Linux host over the next couple of days. During this time the server may be unavailable when the migration takes place but it’ll be up and running soon enough.
In other news at the start of April I’ll be changing the theme to Zombies, this time I’ll try playing around with the theme and see if I can’t give it a bit more of a living dead feeling. At the same time I’ll also be purchasing a domain and getting ready to launch a new site this time dedicated to hosting my artwork, hopefully it’ll give me as much fun as this website and creating the videos has.
New minecraft video has been uploaded, in this episode I take more time to explore the village and get to grips with what’s been added with the Yogbox mod and how it changes things from the vanilla game.
Review of a new Indie game indevelopment called Incursion by Cube Noir, full details about the game and links to downloads etc can be found within the video description. The game only contains the tutorial area in beta but from what I’ve seen it’s looking good.
The soliders of XCOM continue to battle the alien meance in the heart of one of their cities in this the next in the Let’s Play series. Every death counts, unless you’re a civilian then we just don’t care.
